Massachusetts is known for being home to many colleges and universities, including the renowned Harvard University. With many learning institutions in the area, the Bay State’s residents have come to value education, which has resulted in the state having the highest percentage of residents with a college degree. In addition to that, Massachusetts also has a strong health service sector; there are esteemed hospitals in the area such as Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. As a central education and health hub in the United States, Massachusetts makes for a phenomenal place for people to move to and work in.
For those who are interested in moving to the state, we have created a list of the best construction companies in the area. These firms are known for their innovative approaches to creating spaces that are healthy and inspiring for clients.

Indeed, clients return to the firm repeatedly due to its attentive service and its success in making the construction process smooth and stress-free.
The Faneuil Hall Marketplace’s Glass Retail Pavilion is one of Commodore’s Boston-based projects. Before construction began, Commodore removed an existing greenhouse—a task that involved excavation, pulses, and utility connections. The new space, however, features a transparent, single-story glass pavilion that serves as the base building for a retail store. The firm also brought in a subcontractor to furnish and install a flood panel at the main entrance, which was an effort to address the marketplace’s susceptibility to flooding.
Consigli Construction Co., Inc.
313 Congress St. Boston, MA 02210
As a Seaport-based firm, Consigli Construction Co., Inc. (Consigli) works to preserve historic structures while transitioning into forward-thinking construction practices. The firm has completed projects for a wide range of sectors, including academic, corporate, energy, federal, healthcare, hospitality, interiors, life sciences, cultural, and multi-family residential.
After biotechnology company Biogen returned to Cambridge, the company worked with Consigli on its new headquarters in Kendall Square. Consigli created fabrication models for all the major trades, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPFP) systems. The new headquarters has fully collaborative spaces that make use of the raised flooring and demountable glass partitions, while the interactive lobby features the client’s corporate history and exhibits. The result of this adaptive reuse of two historic buildings is a state-of-the-art training, conference, and community laboratory space. There is also a new glass and terra cotta facade.

New England Design and Construction
103 Terrace St. Boston, MA 02120
New England Design and Construction (NEDC) utilizes a construction approach that is based on the values of collaboration, dedication, and creativity. This approach reliably produces well-designed spaces that are meant to uplift their occupants. The design-build method the firm uses involves a full architectural team and qualified construction professionals. This methodology has resulted in a large portfolio of mostly mid- to high-end residential remodeling projects.
A couple in Jamaica Plain contracted NEDC to work on the kitchen, solarium, and first-floor remodel of an outdated townhouse. The goal was to rework the claustrophobic and dark spaces of the home, which NEDC did by opening up the circulation, refinishing and updating the space, and gutting the kitchen. The original brick of the structure was reexposed, while the solarium footprint was opened up in order to bring light into the kitchen and living area. The solarium also features a built-in banquette that makes it more functional as well as aesthetically-pleasing. The kitchen area of the renovated townhouse has an oversized island with a modern mix of industrial and eclectic features. These features include wooden drawer pulls, exposed pipe shelf support, and natural brick. NEDC also worked on a new mudroom and small half-bath for the home.
